Sta. Cruz Island of Zamboanga City

The Philippines, as an archipelago is composed of more than 7,000 islands and has one of the longest coastlines in the world. With that, we are blessed with some many lovely and pristine beaches just waiting to be discovered and enjoyed. One of them is the pink sand beach of Sta.Cruz Island in Zamboanga City.wp_ss_20161210_0009

A trip to the island is booked inside Paseo del Mar (It’s like a park).

It is a small inhabited island in Zamboanga City in the southern region of the Philippines that is famous for its pink coralline sand. The island, located 4 kilometers (2.49 mi) south of downtown at the Santa Cruz Bank in the Basilan Strait, boasts the only pink sand beach in the Philippines. The color of the sand comes from the pulverized red organ pipe coral from eons of surf erosion mixed with the white sand.

Actually, I have never been here but my cousins had, it was just this summer. But I can only see the island from afar (sad to say hanggang tingin lang muna ako), but hopefully this upcoming summer vacation we would be able to go there.
